Washington, D.C. – With only two weeks until a possible government shutdown, House Republicans are focusing on political stunts to help Donald Trump. Not only are they holding six hearings this week that are just transparent excuses to baselessly attack President Biden and Vice President Harris, but some of Tom Kean, Jr.’s extreme MAGA Republican colleagues are holding the government hostage, threatening a disastrous shutdown if they don’t get their way.
In response, Congressional Integrity Project executive director, Kyle Herrig, issued the following statement:
“Congress only has two weeks to avert a dangerous government shutdown, but Tom Kean, Jr. has just been standing by while House Republicans continue their desperate political stunts. MAGA House Republicans have spent their whole time in the majority acting as an arm of the Trump campaign, prioritizing political stunts over helping the American people. With time running out, we are calling on Tom Kean, Jr. to put country above party for once and get his colleagues to end the political games and get a deal to fund the government for the next year.”
