Washington, D.C. – Today, an investigation by The Washington Post revealed that Egypt’s president may have sought to illegally inject $10 million into Donald Trump’s 2016 campaign. An investigation was launched in 2019, but top Justice Department officials appointed by Donald Trump shut it down. MAGA Republicans, like House Oversight Committee chairman James Comer, continue to refuse to address the corruption of Trump and his family and are only focused on political stunt investigations into President Biden and Vice President Harris.

In response, Congressional Integrity Project executive director, Kyle Herrig, issued the following statement:

“The Justice Department officials who blocked an investigation into possible foreign election interference and campaign finance law violations must be questioned by Congress. James Comer and his fellow MAGA Republicans have spent over a year using their official positions in Congress to investigate President Biden, and have not turned up a single shred of evidence of wrongdoing whatsoever. MAGA Republicans need to give up these baseless political stunts and focus on the real conflicts of interest and weaponization of the government.”
