Washington, D.C. – Today, the Congressional Integrity Project released a new report titled, Coup II: Donald Trump and MAGA Republicans Are Planning to Trash Our Democracy if They Lose. Again. The report outlines the steps MAGA Republicans are taking to subvert our democracy if they lose the 2024 presidential election. They are following the same tactics as they did before, during, and after the 2020 election, repeating the lies and violent rhetoric that led to the January 6, 2021 attack to stop the lawful results.
Congressional Integrity Project executive director, Kyle Herrig, issued the following statement:
“MAGA Republicans, led by convicted felon Donald Trump, pose a great threat to our democracy. They will stop at nothing, including lying and encouraging violence, in order to subvert the results of the next election, should they lose, and push through their radical and extreme Project 2025 agenda onto the American people if they win. It’s simple – our democracy and freedoms are at grave risk under Trump and his MAGA Republican cronies.”
