Washington, D.C. – Over the past 24 hours, Donald Trump has ramped up his calls for Congress to impeach President Biden, despite no evidence of wrongdoing whatsoever by the current president.
“Congress ought to impeach crooked Joe Biden for attacking his political opponent by weaponizing the DOJ, the FBI, and even the local DAs and attorney generals against his political opponent,” Trump said. “They ought to impeach him because that is the most undemocratic thing that you can do. This happens in certain countries but never happened in our country.”
Ever since he reluctantly left office, Donald Trump has pushed his MAGA cronies in Congress to pursue baseless political stunts and impeachment inquiries, rather than focusing on the issues affecting Americans across the country, all to harm President Biden as payback for Trump’s two impeachments. In response, Congressional Integrity Project executive director, Kyle Herrig, issued the following statement:
“Last night Trump said it himself: the baseless Biden impeachment attempt from MAGA House Republicans is at his order. MAGA Republicans have not done a single thing over the past year that would actually benefit the American people. These evidence-free impeachment investigations are all to distract from Trump’s 91 criminal indictments, two impeachments, the insurrection he started, and to harm President Biden and his administration, all so he can return to the White House and enact his extreme and dangerous MAGA agenda. We told y’all all along.”
