Washington, D.C. – Today, the House Oversight Committee interviewed Georges Bergès, whose gallery sold Hunter Biden’s artwork. Bergès told the committee that while working with Hunter, “he never had any contact with the White House at all.” This information is yet another blow to Oversight Chairman James Comer, who after over a year of investigating, still has not uncovered a single shred of evidence of wrongdoing by President Biden whatsoever. In response, Congressional Integrity Project executive director, Kyle Herrig, issued the following statement:

“Georges Bergès is just the latest addition to the list of witnesses who can confirm President Biden was not involved in his son’s business dealings – including his art sales. This so-called investigation by James Comer is an embarrassing waste of time. The fact that MAGA House Republicans are only focused on impeaching the president while the country teeters on the verge of a government shutdown shows they have the wrong priorities and don’t actually care about the important issues facing Americans across the country.”

Bergès’ testimony backfiring on Comer is especially embarrassing given today’s bombshell reporting from the Daily Beast, which further shows James Comer’s shady business dealings detailing how “Comer’s own personal ‘books and records’ are opaque at best–and improper at worst.” Records reviewed by the Daily Beast show Comer’s shell company failed to file annual reports in 2020 and 2022.
