Washington, D.C. – Today, Republicans on the House Rules Committee held a hearing on Republicans’ bogus impeachment inquiry into President Biden and advanced the resolution to the floor, setting up a vote tomorrow. They are pushing ahead with this desperate stunt even though their yearslong investigation has not produced a single shred of evidence of wrongdoing by President Biden, let alone one that rises to the level of impeachment. Americans have repeatedly made clear that they want their Congress to focus on the real issues impacting their lives like the economy and the cost of living and the economy rather than trying to impeach President Biden.
Congressional Integrity Project senior advisor, Brad Woodhouse, issued the following statement:
“Today was another MAGA Republican hearing on impeachment – another no-evidence political stunt brought to you by the House Rules Committee. In another embarrassing display, Republican members once again failed to cite any evidence of wrongdoing whatsoever. But what was evident throughout the hearing was that they are doing Donald Trump’s bidding. They have wasted the past year on Trump’s personal vendetta going after President Biden instead of actually doing their jobs and helping make their constituents’ lives better. Any Republican who votes to authorize the impeachment inquiry tomorrow, is supporting another year of wrong priorities.”
