Washington, D.C. – Today, the Congressional Integrity Project updated the James Comer’s 9 Months of Abject Failure report with a new failure of Comer’s! The report highlights the complete and total lack of evidence that James Comer has uncovered since taking over as chair of the House Oversight Committee. After weathering nine months of complete and utter failure while members of Comer’s own caucus have publicly expressed disdain at the glaring lack of evidence of any wrongdoing whatsoever, MAGA Republicans are moving forward with an impeachment inquiry against President Biden without even a veneer of direct evidence to support their lurid claims.
Congressional Integrity Project executive director Kyle Herrig issued the following statement.
“Just weeks after we released our report chronicling James Comers’ failures, we’ve had to update it with his latest faceplant. James Comer and MAGA House Republicans are pushing a fact-free impeachment inquiry to distract from Donald Trump’s serious legal troubles and their own embarrassing failure to govern. They have spent almost a year holding hearings, reviewing 12,000 pages of subpoenaed bank records and over 2,000 pages of suspicious activity reports, and spent hours interviewing witnesses – and have found absolutely no evidence of wrongdoing by President Biden. Comer must have an addiction to public humiliation because tomorrow’s bogus impeachment inquiry hearing will be yet another failure on Comer’s already long list of abject failures.”
