Washington, D.C. – Today, the MAGA Republicans on the House Judiciary Committee held a hearing featuring testimony from Attorney General Merrick Garland that immediately devolved into a conspiracy theory-filled mess in their ongoing effort to protect Donald Trump, hurt President Biden, and distract from the MAGA GOP’s failure to govern ahead of a likely government shutdown of their own making. In response, Congressional Integrity Project executive director, Kyle Herrig, issued the following statement:
“As expected, today’s hearing was another political stunt full of debunked conspiracy theories as part of the MAGA GOP’s campaign to protect four-time indicted Donald Trump, smear President Biden, and distract from their own party’s abject failure to govern. The losers in all this are the American people, who are sick and tired of these MAGA generated political games and simply want Congress to address the issues they care about like the cost of living and healthcare. But Jim Jordan and his MAGA allies don’t care about any of that, all they care about is doing Donald Trump’s bidding – no matter the truth and no matter the consequences.”
