Washington, D.C. – Today, new reporting detailed Kevin McCarthy’s plan to move forward with an impeachment inquiry into President Biden when the House reconvenes in September, despite Republicans having absolutely no evidence of wrongdoing by President Biden, whatsoever. One thing is clear, Donald Trump is pressuring McCarthy to pursue impeachment of the President to distract from his multiple ongoing criminal investigations. In response, Congressional Integrity Project executive director, Kyle Herrig, issued the following statement:
“It’s clear: Kevin McCarthy is moving forward with impeachment this fall at Trump’s instruction. This bogus evidence-free impeachment is all a blatant attempt to even the political score and distract from Trump’s massive legal woes. McCarthy is willing to set aside every priority the American people care about, like health care, the cost of living, and job creation, to do Donald Trump’s bidding. The MAGA House continues to prove that their only priority is to defend Donald Trump and tarnish President Biden ahead of the 2024 Presidential election.”

CHASER: CNN: McCarthy starts to plot Biden impeachment strategy while GOP skeptics remain. “GOP Colorado Rep. Ken Buck, a member of the hardline Freedom Caucus who sits on the House Judiciary Committee, has previously accused McCarthy of engaging in ‘impeachment theater.’ And one GOP lawmaker, granted anonymity to speak more freely, offered an even blunter assessment: ‘There’s no evidence that Joe Biden got money, or that Joe Biden, you know, agreed to do something so that Hunter could get money. There’s just no evidence of that. And they can’t impeach without that evidence.
