Washington, D.C. – Yesterday, an explosive story revealed that Donald Trump staff and allies were allegedly behind a breach of a Georgia county’s voting systems. This breach was part of Trump’s failed efforts to overturn the results of the 2020 election – that he knew he lost – and occurred just days before the January 6th attack on our Capitol. Trump is currently under investigation in Georgia by Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis over his attempt to overturn the 2020 election in Georgia. In response, Congressional Integrity Project executive director, Kyle Herrig, issued the following statement:
“MAGA Republicans in Congress will no doubt turn a blind eye to the rampant corruption and potential crimes committed on behalf of Donald Trump – including breaching sensitive information in order to overturn an election Trump knew he lost. House Republicans have been using the taxpayer-funded investigative powers of their committees to act as Trump’s defense counsel. They are willing to set aside every priority the American people care about – access to affordable health care, the cost of living, and job creation – to do Donald Trump’s bidding.”
