Washington, D.C. – Today, Congressional Integrity Project sent a letter to the Office of Congressional Ethics (“OCE”) requesting an immediate investigation into Representative James Comer’s statements regarding Devon Archer’s testimony to the House Oversight Committee. Since Archer’s testimony last week, Comer has appeared on Fox News and other right-wing media outlets numerous times, claiming the testimony proves wrongdoing by President Biden when in reality the testimony does the exact opposite. Comer also appears to have lied, claiming he called into the meeting and that he was listening on the phone, which would’ve been impossible given his appearances in Kentucky and no mentions of him in the official transcript. Congressional Integrity Project executive director Kyle Herrig issued the following statement.
“Comer has a history of lying about the results of his investigations into President Biden. His most recent falsehood was disproved by the same interview of Devon Archer he’s been touting and must be investigated. Comer must be held accountable for his history of obfuscation and lies.”
