Day after day, Congressional Republicans continue to expose their blatant political motives behind each partisan stunt. House Oversight Chair James Comer (R-KY) has already shown he has no interest in conducting credible investigations and admitted that his agenda is all about getting former president Trump re-elected. Senator Chuck Grassley has even admitted that he has no interest in whether or not the allegations against President Biden are “accurate or not.” Republicans are telling the truth out loud. If they had proof of anything, Republicans would have shared it with the American people instead of hiding information from his own colleagues.

Senator Ron Johnson (R-WI): “You have to infer what’s happening here … you’re not gonna get necessarily hard proof.” [Fox Business, 5/10/23, VIDEO]
Johnson also said “that’ll be up to them” when asked if the allegations against President Biden turned out to not be credible, would his Republican colleagues acknowledge that. [Fox News, 5/3/23, VIDEO]
Congressional Republicans Openly Admitted Their Investigations Would Be a Sham Before They Even Took Control of The House. House Republicans were already openly admitting that their investigations would be designed to target political opponents and influence public opinion for the 2024 elections before they ever took control of the House of Representatives:
- Rep. James Comer told Fox News, “There are a lot of factors that are going to prevent Joe Biden from running. His age, the results of the midterm elections in two weeks. But also his son. Look, this Biden family investigation’s only going to ramp up in a Republican majority.” [“Fox and Friends,” Fox News, 10/26/22]
- Rep. Jim Jordan: “so, all these things need to be investigated just so you have the truth, plus that will help frame up the 2024 race, when I hope and I think President Trump is going to run again and we need to make sure that he wins…” [Politico, 8/10/22]
Salon: “Look At The Polling”: James Comer Brags That GOP’s Biden Crusade Is Boosting Trump’s Numbers. “House Oversight Chairman James Comer, R-Ky., bragged that the House Republicans’ investigation into President Joe Biden and his family is boosting former President Donald Trump in the polls. […] Even some Fox News hosts have questioned the lack of evidence that has come out of the probe despite Republicans’ touting allegations of corruption against the president’s family. ‘You don’t actually have any facts to that point,’ host Steve Doocy said to Comer during a ‘Fox and Friends’ interview earlier this month. ‘You’ve got some circumstantial evidence,’ Doocy continued. ‘And the other thing is, of all those names, the one person who didn’t profit is — there’s no evidence that Joe Biden did anything illegally,’ he added. ‘You know it’s bad when you’ve lost Fox,’ tweeted Rep. Eric Swalwell, D-Calif., after the interview. Comer drew mockery last week after claiming that the so-called ‘informant’ that provided evidence to the committee was missing. ‘Well, unfortunately, we can’t track down the informant,’ Comer said. ‘We’re hopeful that the informant is still there. The whistleblower knows the informant. The whistleblower is very credible.’” [Salon, 5/22/23]
HuffPost: GOP Rep. James Comer Implies Biden Family Probe Is Really About Helping Trump In 2024. “Rep. James Comer (R-Ky.) on Monday inadvertently implied that House Republicans’ high-profile investigation into President Joe Biden’s family members and their finances is actually about helping Donald Trump win the presidency in 2024. […] During Monday’s interview, Comer claimed that Biden’s family members have received money from foreign nationals, saying ‘that’s what we’ve proven’ with the GOP’s probe. But in reality, despite House Republicans’ efforts to portray Biden as hopelessly corrupt, the committee didn’t present any evidence in its hearings that directly implicated Biden. Comer also misrepresented the state of presidential polling in his interview. His claim that Trump has a 7-point edge over Biden stems from an ABC News/Washington Post survey released earlier this month. Other surveys, however, show Biden leading, and the overall polling picture indicates a tight race between Biden and Trump. In particular, polling shows little indication that House GOP investigations of Biden’s family are driving the president’s political standing downward. While Biden’s approval rating remains underwater, scattered surveys of the public show little indication that the Comer-led investigations have had a major effect one way or another.” [HuffPost, 5/22/23]
Newsweek: GOP’s Chuck Grassley Admits Biden Bribery Allegation May Be “Untrue.” “Senator Chuck Grassley has again relayed uncertainty as to allegations he and fellow Republican, Representative James Comer have made against President Joe Biden. […] In a new interview with Newsmax’s Greta Van Susteren, Grassley seemed to imply that proof behind the allegations made about Biden’s past and any communications with foreign nationals remains lacking. “The letter is electrifying because it talks about exchange of money for policy decisions,” Van Susteren said to Grassley. “It’s a very serious allegation against the then-vice president.” The senator replied, “It is a very serious allegation. I wish I could say that I knew it was true or untrue.” A portion of the interview was tweeted by Ian Sams, a White House spokesman for oversight and investigations, who previously told Newsweek that the new allegations are a continuation of five years of the GOP “lobbing unfounded, unproven, politically-motivated attacks against the president and his family without offering evidence for their claims or evidence of decisions influenced by anything other than U.S. interests.” [Newsweek, 5/5/23]
MSNBC (Opinion): The True Meaning Of James Comer’s Fox News Backpedaling “The idea that the committee might be in pursuit of a political victory, and not a legal one, is not surprising. Comer’s bald acknowledgment of that reality? Well, that might be showing a little too much leg, as suggested by Comer’s backpedaling 24 hours later. “Look, when I was referencing poll numbers, it had nothing to do with Donald Trump,” he told a different Fox News host. You can tell a lot about people from what they’re embarrassed by. But for years, one of the defining characteristics of the Republican Party has been a complete lack of shame. Leaders barely seemed to bother with damage control. From pundit Michael Knowles calling for the “eradication” of “transgenderism” to Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene’s endorsement of a “national divorce,” to the widespread promulgation of the “Great Replacement Theory,” conservatives were no longer just saying the quiet part out loud — they were turning up the volume. What quiet part? This ideology goes up to 11. The difference is that conducting a partisan witch hunt is an expression of power, and today’s Republican base has to be flattered into the illusion of a righteous revanchist minority. Trump told them they’d get “tired of winning,” but the party of fear wins elections by insisting they’re always on the edge of starting to lose.” [MSNBC (Opinion), 5/31/23]
