Washington, D.C. – Today, Jim Jordan held another bogus hearing on alleged weaponization by the federal government, where he gave platforms to conspiracy theorists, fake whistleblowers, and former FBI employees who had their security clearances revoked for expressing support for the attack on January 6th. Jordan also refused to share witness testimony with the minority, in violation of House rules. Meanwhile, Democrats pointed out the connection between some of the witnesses and Kash Patel, a MAGA extremist with close ties to Donald Trump including paying two of the witnesses. In response, Congressional Integrity Project executive director, Kyle Herrig issued the following statement:
“Unsurprisingly, today’s Weaponization subcommittee hearing was an embarrassing disaster for Jim Jordan and his fellow MAGA Republicans. GOP Members and their widely discredited witnesses continued to push baseless conspiracy theories and lies. Jordan once again failed to prove any weaponization from the government, and his bias was on full display as he broke House rules. It continues to be clear that Jordan’s real goal with these investigations is to hurt President Biden and help his friend Donald Trump and these Trump-allied witnesses are just part of his desperate plan.”
