Washington, D.C. – Today, Donald Trump was formally arraigned in Manhattan, New York for his role in concealing illegal hush money payments to cover up an extramarital affair ahead of the 2016 presidential election. In response, Congressional Integrity Project Executive Director Kyle Herrig, issued the following statement:
“No matter what, Trump must be held accountable for his actions. MAGA Republicans in Congress, including Marjorie Taylor Greene, Jim Jordan, and James Comer, are committed to investigating the Manhattan District Attorney and obstructing justice in New York, despite having no authority over Alvin Bragg. It shows just how far they are willing to go to defend a disgraced former president who incited a violent attack on our Capitol, all to get him re-elected in 2024 in order to enact their extremist policies. Despite their best efforts, no one is above the law, not even Donald Trump.”
