Washington, D.C. – Tomorrow, Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene is leading a cohort of Trump’s closest election-denying MAGA allies in the House on a visit to the January 6th defendants and insurrectionists in the DC jail. This visit is part of the ongoing effort by Trump and his allies to normalize the violent insurrection he incited in an attempt to overturn the 2020 election that both Donald Trump and his allies knew he lost. In response, Hannah Muldavin, Congressional Integrity Project senior communications advisor and former spokeswoman for the January 6th Select Committee, issued the following statement:
“The January 6th assault on our Capitol was a disgusting attack on the very core of our democracy. The fact that Kevin McCarthy, Marjorie Taylor Greene, and MAGA Republicans want to glorify the violent insurrectionists who vandalized our nation’s Capitol, called for the execution of the Speaker of the House and the Vice President, injured 140 police officers, and attempted to stop the peaceful transfer of power is shameful and shows that they do not have the moral authority to lead. This visit is another excuse for Trump loyalists and election deniers in the House to make light of the violence on January 6th and help Donald Trump return to the White House.”
