Washington D.C. – Today, Congressional Integrity Project sent a letter to the Fayette Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office calling for them to investigate Representative James Comer’s involvement in obtaining and distributing leaked emails and, if there is sufficient evidence, take criminal action against Comer. The letter comes after Comer admitted to potential wrongdoing in an article published yesterday. In response, Congressional Integrity Project executive director, Kyle Herrig, issued the following statement:
“Nobody is above the law – even James Comer. As House Oversight Committee Chairman it’s his job to investigate the conduct of others, but he has essentially admitted to committing a felony under Kentucky law in a failed attempt to win the Kentucky 2015 gubernatorial election. Kentuckians and Americans across the country deserve to know the truth about Comer’s involvement with these hacked emails. Comer and his fellow MAGA Republicans continue to show they cannot be trusted to conduct fair and credible investigations.”
