Washington D.C. – Today, House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan along with House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer sent a letter to Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg, demanding communications, documents, and testimony of his investigation into Donald Trump and his alleged crimes. In response, Congressional Integrity Project executive director, Kyle Herrig, issued the following statement:
“This is an outrageous abuse of power by Trump-cultist Republicans. Interfering with local District Attorneys, who are elected to bring lawbreakers to justice, is beyond the pale. Alvin Bragg answers to the people of Manhattan, not Jim Jordan and James Comer. They are trying to use their taxpayer-funded platform to interfere with legitimate investigations into Donald Trump and his efforts to subvert democracy. Jordan, Comer, and their fellow MAGA House Republicans continue to prove they don’t care about the real issues surrounding the American people, only defending their disgraced former president. The American people see right through their games.”
