Washington, D.C. – Today, new reporting revealed that Donald Trump’s allies in Georgia have been sowing doubts about voting machines ahead of November’s election, including filing a new lawsuit. In last night’s Vice Presidential debate, Trump’s running mate, JD Vance, refused to say if Trump lost the 2020 election and refused to commit to accepting the results of the 2024 election. Trump, Vance, and MAGA Republicans are sowing doubt, whipping up supporters and employing the same dangerous tactics they did before, during, and after the 2020 election, repeating the lies and violent rhetoric that led to the January 6, 2021 attack on the Capitol to overturn the results of an election Trump knew he lost.

In response, Congressional Integrity Project executive director Kyle Herrig said the following:

“Trump and his MAGA Republican sycophants have spent the past four years setting the stage to try to overturn the results of the upcoming election if they lose just like they did in 2020. We all saw the horrific results of Trump’s ‘Big Lie’ last election – a violent attack on the Capitol on January 6th in an attempt to stop the peaceful transfer of power. As Republicans continue to double down on election denialism in a desperate attempt to return Trump to the White House, our country and our democracy are in grave danger.”
